TK-4: Advanced One-Handed Tourniquet

TK4

TK-4 features a newly developed woven elastic textile band (3” wide by 40” long) that provides incredible strength and flexibility. With one steel hook fastened steadfast (three thick hog rings per S-Hook) to both ends of the elastic band, and packaged in a small, vacuum-sealed pouch, TK-4 is the perfect solution for any kind of injury involving arterial bleeding.

TK-4 has been deployed by the US Marine Corps, US Special Forces, and numerous law enforcement and emergency services.

In April 2007, the Navy Experimental Diving Unit compared several of the leading self-applied tourniquets on the market including the H&H TK-3 and TK-4 models. Their research found that both H&H products ranked at the top for overall efficiency and product usability. Download the report here.

TK-4L: One-Handed Tourniquet for Legs

When tourniquets are applied at this point on the leg over materials such as a uniform, as is normal, the tourniquets were either not strong enough to fully pressure the area or the users could not or would not place maximum force on the tourniquet.

In order to allow the user to put maximum pressure with the tourniquet, H&H modified the TK-4 to create the TK-4L to give the user the ability to apply the maximum capable force on lower extremities.

The TK-4L updates the TK-4 design by putting a tension fixture at one end of the strap. The added aluminum tension fixture results in the ability to apply maximum manual force to the strap and increase the blood loss stoppage capability of the strap.
